Always take your own driver’s license with you, even when heading overseas. If your local license on its own is not acceptable in your destination country, it will be necessary to obtain an International Driver’s License/Permit to use in conjunction with your license. These provide an official translation of your license into several languages, and are an international standard for driver documents. They are valid only when presented along with a valid local license! Contact your local transport authority or government to find out about how to apply for an International Driver’s License/Permit, and which countries require them.
